Minutes from last meeting approved.
Inspector Pete Meteau gave an update with some good news that arrests have been made relating to recent crimes. Portland has a slight but significant problem with ketamine drug abuse. There are now pre-paid envelopes available to report/provide any information or concerns to the police and this can be done anonymously.
The role of the Partnership has changed since its inception and the wording of the Constitution requires amendment to reflect those changes and the work of the Partnership. This was put to the floor and agreement was passed.
Academy Update. Paul Green gave an update as to the progress to date and as to the work still to be done with the timescales involved. It is hope the academy will be open in the existing buildings in September 2011 and in the new purpose built facilities in 2012.
Governors Garden. The gardens are progressing and planning has now been submitted for the childrens play area. A further application for funding will be submitted in the near future. Lynn Cooch also gave details of the Island Clean up on Saturday 19th September.
POPP Wayfinders Partnership for Older People Project. Nicky turrell and Colin Smith are the Portland Wayfinders and gave a presentation concerning the service they offer to over 55’s which include advice on housing, welfare, transport, learning etc., they can be contacted on 01305 213345, 07971 338309, 07971 338270.
Weymouth and Portland Housing. Christian Blackbeard – Housing Officer- gave an informative talk on the role of W&PH, explaining the set up, status of and allocation process for applicants. Any problems with anti social tenants should be reported to Christine Wallace who is the Anti Social Complaints Officer.
Secretary’s Report. Unfortunately Gillian was unable to attend due to illness (food poisoning) and thus no report available. This will follow.
Treasurers Report. Unfortunately due to certain information not readily available a full report was not in place. However, the balance in the account remains fairly static at the £10,000.00 mark.
Officers Field. Alison Hatcher of SWRDA has agreed funds for the first community project, namely the skate Park and will be seeking to set up a local group including youngsters to move the project forward.
Revive Project. Mark Jackson gave a brief update concerning the project including information on a petition to the local authority to allow shop fronts to be removed and upgraded if converted to residential units.
