The Portland Stone Experience

The Portland Stone ExperienceThe first PCP dinner launched the exciting book recording the history of stone and the stone industry on Portland. The Portland Stone Experience written by Rachel Barton and Peter Revell.

The illustrated book explores the impact that Portland stone has had on the social and economic life of Portlanders and it covers quarrying through Portland Walksthe ages as well as the formation of the stone itself during the Jurassic period.

It is on sale for only £5, with all profits being used to develop other local environmental projects, including a donation made towards the Quarry Park trail.

Portland Walks

To compliment the book we also have a walks pack comprising of three handy pull-out cards, each one a guide for a stunning Portland walk. The three walks in this pack have been chosen to provide an insight into quarrying on the island and the effects it’s had on three contrasting landscapes and sells for just £3.00. Both are on sale at The Heights Hotel and Touts Cards in Easton.
