Portland Community Minibus Association
After a meeting that was held in 1998, it was decided that some kind of affordable community transport should be provided for semi housebound and elderly people, but also for any persons in the community who should need it. 
The P.C.M.A was formed and in January 2000, the minibus arrived.
The minibus is an accessible vehicle for all members of the community. It has a tailgate and lift for those who use wheelchairs and Zimmer frames. Seats are removable to allow people to travel in their wheelchairs when necessary.
Although it seems there is plenty of money keeping the minibus running, we are continually seeking support to cover the costs of the minibus. This includes servicing, MOT, insurance etc. We do try to keep the cost of hiring the minibus to a minimum but these factors are put into account.
The minibus is a fully accessible vehicle for everyone in the community. Its features include:

- Room for wheelchairs
- Tail lift for easy access to wheelchair and Zimmer frame users

Community and Charity
- Use with a driver = £47.50 (up to 5 hours)
- Use with driver = £77.50 (full day)
- Use self drive = £37.50 (up to 5 hours)
- Use self drive =£67.50 (full day)
Non charitable, self drive
- Part day up to 5 hours = £47.50
- Full day = £77.50

P.C.M.A. Trips
We organise regular trips. These have included:
- Regular trips to Morrison's & other local stores
- Shopping trips to Poole, Yeovil & other towns
- Pub lunches
- Garden centres
- Theatre trips and shows
- Mystery Tours

Volunteers needed
The minibus operates for you and this is only made possible because we have a team of volunteer drivers who give up their free time. If you have some time to spare, even a few hours a month come and speak to us. Any help is gratefully appreciated. All drivers receive full training in the handling of wheelchairs etc.
