Portland Community Partnership
Welcome to the PCP website created to give information, advice and help to all who live and work on our fabulous island. There is something for everybody. For those of you who live on the island we have sections specifically for the youth and seniors. For business we have a job vacancies section as well as a business directory.
The next PCP general meeting is on 7th September and will be held at 7.00pm in the Community 2000 Hall at Easton.
There will be a presentation by Lyn Cooch, the Island Ranger, who will update on environmental projects including the opening of the tunnel from Inmosthay to Tout and the new Wild about Weymouth and Portland project.
The last breakfast held in June was fairly well attended and it was agreed the next meeting would focus on apprenticeship and training opportunities for local businesses. The business section will be looking at grants for some of these costs. All Portland businesses welcome, please contact business@portlandcp.org.uk to reserve your place.
Chance to network after meeting, and enjoy another cup of coffee before heading to work. Please bring along your business cards and any offer you would like to display for attendees - each meeting you can promote your company - bring some flyers!
The former governor’s garden at the front of the YOI has been leased to the Portland Community Partnership as a community open space. Working in partnership with the Portland Gas Trust, YOI and the Island Ranger on this scheme we are delighted to say that a successful bid to the lottery’s Changing Spaces program for £46,000 means that the new areas can now be implemented. This will include a wildlife area and pond, a botanical garden, picnic area and children’s play area. Further details available from the Secretary.
This site should be your homepage if you live or work on Portland. If you
are looking for something you have not found then please let us know and
we will do our best to add it. The site will be constantly updated so check
back often for the latest news on all aspects of Portland.
Our youth section will be written by RMAC students and is forming part
of year 8's curriculum for the year (hence why that section isn't live quite yet, but watch this space!).
Portland business can benefit from their exposure on this site by reaching
the broadest and best local audience, whether you are advertising your business
or are looking to recruit some local talent.
